Poems on the Underground

Literally this is a poem on the Underground

Sitting, tired from learning about access control policies and the long day of serving the government indirectly; on the green line to a place called home

Adjacent to me is a red suitcase, the owner with a newspaper in hand, there are those with headsets over their head, the music quite normal this time (thank goodness), there are those sleeping, those with rucksacks and I just noticed they are all species of the Y Chromosome…  That worries me a bit. I check the time, “what a day?” I exclaim within

Why does life have to be so complex? Why do we have to secure everything and get ‘youngsters’ like me sitting in a house of books, either staring curiously at a screen or looking with rapt attention into those numerous pages just to come up with some vague idea of some policies in security??? Well, the answer is obvious

Still wondering at a city like this, those returning from work and those just going to work

The Green line decides not to complete its journey and then terminates at some odd station

The sniffs and coughs of both Chromosomes with each stairs climbed explains the unpredictable weather condition of this city not excluding its domain; the country

The shuffles of walking feet and the unending beeps of the card against the yellow surface continues the story of the Underground. Those little doors with narrow passage keep latching here and there as the government legally steals from its people in the name of fares; defines the bustle of this city

“this Train terminates here” I just realise, I need to get off. The moaning of the passengers due to the change of destination gives a perfect description to the Underground. Oh, It’s my stop and my first story/poem of the London Underground ends here.

  2. i love studies in time and place. you go into nice detail and weave some insight and philosophy into an observational piece.

interesting look at gender as X and Y chromosomes.
