They fought and battled
Under the majesty of a little country,
Though big, we seemed little
Finally we got it!
We were FREE!
Once again, over the half century lived
We remember the toil of hard-work
On our ever brown soil
The skin turned brown under the scorching sun
Toiling for so many years
We made a living
We were once made Kings
Royalty of the beautiful green homeland
United by our farmlands, crops and the common language that made us
Part of a great continent; Africa
Today we celebrate 52 years of solidarity
Happy Independence day to all Nigerians! (from a daughter of the soil: Emerald).. Wishing you all a blissful Celebration!
