He Slay Me

Bent beneath a load of worry,
Life’s uncertainty all a rumble,
The heart, a well of thoughts and worries
Each passing moment as cold as death
Tears flow down the cheeks unbidden
Face ashen, and streak of tears a permanent sight
The heart constantly repeating the words from the old book
“Though he slay me, yet will I trust him”

The events take place after each other
Not a break of some moment of sadness
Not a little time to mourn
It is taken just like another hour of news on the news channel
Fingers quivering and cold
But a smile forever a trademark when his promises are remembered
Promises? Yes, God’s unfailing word
God’s thoughts for his children
Straight from the throne of Grace and Mercy
Served in its right portion
And sealed with the beautiful words said to Job
“….and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
… Have you considered my servant?…. In all these, Job sinned not!”
Another, memorabilia to all in this, all who do not forget this ‘easy yet difficult’ sentence in the oldest book on earth:
“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. (Job 13:15 KJV)”
