We Wrestle

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places | Ephesians 6:12, KJV

They gang up,

Swords and spears

Plow-shares and bows

All fighting back

The arrows that be fly by day

They tear the flesh and blood is spilled on the blessed earth

Of causes and anger,

Fighting not ceasing

Each person taking their vengeance,

Each enemy of the soul in battle

They tear down every happiness and replace it with a wall of sadness

The wall so thick, it seems not even prayer can penetrate through

But the one who in place of us, wrestles for us

Tears down, breaks down

Destroys, brings to naught their counsel

Returns the peace that once lived

As our prayers keep going upward unceasingly.

“In thee O Lord do we put our Trust.”
