Body denied of pleasures

The pleasures of the mouth

Turn to prayer and praise

To gain more of his measure

But he requires to deny more

Giving food to the hungry,

And shelter to the homeless,…

What more to an answer but obey

A satisfying obedience, an ear given

To every heart content, breaking free

All bondage put under subjection

Of his most treasured children, only obey

Setting free, breaking chains,  ——–

True deliverance at our command, —-

Only at obedience, he sets us free indeed

Guiding and making us to flourish in season

Call at that time, when it is all done —-

A promise, “I will answer”, tears of joy

A definite answer when a cry of help

Is heard, saying “Here am I”?

What a blessing to be treasured by God?

Isaiah 58:6

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
    and break every yoke?

Isaiah 58:9a

Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
